About us
We are Peter and Alexandra, and for more than 13 years we have had the pleasure of welcoming guests to our beautiful corner of the Brecon Beacons. Living on the estate means we’re always nearby to offer advice, answer questions or help with anything you may need during your stay. As dog owners ourselves, we understand that dogs are part of the family and are delighted to welcome four-legged guests.
Our commitment to sustainability
We’ve worked to reduce our environmental impact across the estate — from on-site EV charging and improved insulation to sourcing our welcome supplies locally, using Noble Isle toiletries and managing our twelve acres of grounds to encourage wildlife.
Common questions
Frequently asked
Where exactly is The Ty Mawr Collection?+
We are located in Llanfrynach, a small village in the Brecon Beacons National Park, approximately four miles east of Brecon town centre. The estate sits within twelve acres of private parkland, surrounded by countryside and within easy reach of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.
Are the cottages suitable for a romantic break or special occasion?+
Absolutely. All five cottages have been designed with couples in mind and are particularly popular for anniversaries, birthdays and honeymoons. We’re happy to help arrange flowers, champagne or other touches on request.
Which cottages are dog friendly?+
Four of our five cottages welcome dogs — The Dairy, The Laundry, The Cottage and The Bothy each accept up to three well-behaved dogs. The Coach is our dedicated dog-free retreat, ideal for guests who prefer a pet-free environment. Dogs must be over one year old.
Is there good walking directly from the cottages?+
Yes — the estate’s twelve acres of private grounds are available to all guests and their dogs. From the gate, you can walk directly to the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal for peaceful towpath strolls, and the Brecon Beacons mountains — including Pen y Fan and Fan y Big — are within a short drive.
What is included in the cottage?+
All cottages include bed linen, towels, bathrobes and slippers, Noble Isle toiletries, a kitchen starter pack (tea, coffee, milk, Welsh cakes and more), firewood and fire lighters for the wood-burning stove, a Nespresso machine, smart TV with Netflix access, free Wi-Fi and fresh flowers. Sun loungers and barbecues are also provided.
Is there an on-site treatment or spa facility?+
Yes — Ty Mawr has a private treatment studio on site offering a range of beauty and wellbeing treatments. Booking in advance is strongly recommended as availability is limited. Please contact us when booking your cottage to arrange your preferred treatments.
Is there electric vehicle charging on site?+
Yes — EV charging is available in the Ty Mawr car park. You will need to download the Monta app to your mobile phone to access the charger. Rapid charging is also available at Morrisons in Brecon, approximately four miles away.
What are the check-in and check-out times?+
Check-in is from 4.00pm and no later than 9.00pm. Check-out is by 10.00am. If you need to arrange a different time, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to help.
How far are the cottages from Brecon and other local towns?+
Brecon town centre is approximately three miles away — about a ten-minute drive. Crickhowell is around twelve miles, Hay-on-Wye approximately sixteen miles and Abergavenny around eighteen miles. All are easily reached for shopping, dining and exploring.
Will we meet the owners during our stay?+
Yes — Peter and Alexandra live on the estate and will greet you personally on arrival. They are always on hand to offer local recommendations, answer questions or help with anything during your stay, without ever intruding on your privacy.
